Who We Are

Friendly Alarm is a mobile application developed and operated by FlashDev, s.r.o., a software company registered in the Slovak Republic. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data when you use the Friendly Alarm app.

We are committed to full compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Slovak data protection law. If you have any questions, please see the contact section at the end of this document.

Section 02

Data We Collect

We collect only the data that is necessary to provide the features of the app. The table below summarises what we collect, why, and how.

📷 Camera & 🎙️ Microphone permissions: Camera access is used only to let you set or update your profile photo. Microphone access is used only to record voice messages that you explicitly choose to send to other users. We never record audio in the background.

How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect exclusively for the following purposes:

  • To create and manage your account via Google Sign-In
  • To deliver alarms and synchronise your settings across devices
  • To enable social alarm features — sharing alarms and sending voice messages to your alarm group
  • To display your name and avatar to other members of your alarm groups
  • To send push notifications related to your alarms and alarm groups
  • To detect and fix crashes and bugs using Firebase Crashlytics
  • To comply with legal obligations

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.

Section 04

Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

Under the GDPR, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:

  • Contractual necessity (Art. 6(1)(b)): Processing your account data, alarm settings, and voice messages is necessary to provide the service you signed up for.
  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): Camera and microphone access requires your explicit permission, which you grant via the device permission prompt. You may withdraw consent at any time in your device settings.
  • Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): Crash reporting and diagnostic data help us maintain a stable and secure app. This processing does not override your fundamental rights.
Section 05

Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the following service providers, who act as data processors under binding agreements, and only to the extent necessary:

All third-party providers used are either based in the EEA or covered by appropriate transfer mechanisms (Standard Contractual Clauses). Your data is not transferred to countries without adequate protection.
Section 06

Children's Privacy

Friendly Alarm is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately at support@friendlyalarm.app and we will delete the data promptly.

Users between the ages of 13 and 17 may use the app with parental or guardian consent. We encourage parents to supervise their children's use of social features, including the sending and receiving of voice messages.

Section 07

Your Rights

As a user in the European Union, you have the following rights under the GDPR:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectification: Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Erasure ("right to be forgotten"): Request deletion of your account and all associated data
  • Restriction: Ask us to temporarily stop processing your data
  • Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Objection: Object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Withdraw consent: Revoke camera or microphone permission at any time in your device settings

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Slovak supervisory authority: Úrad na ochranu osobných údajov Slovenskej republiky (ÚOOÚ), dataprotection.gov.sk.

To exercise any of your rights, contact us at support@friendlyalarm.app. We will respond within 30 days.

Section 08

Data Retention

  • Account data (name, email, avatar): Retained for as long as your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
  • Voice messages: Stored on our servers until delivered and confirmed received by the recipient, then deleted automatically. Undelivered messages are deleted after 30 days.
  • Alarm settings: Retained while your account is active. Deleted on account deletion.
  • Crash & diagnostic data: Retained for up to 90 days by Firebase Crashlytics, then automatically purged.

Some data may be retained longer where required by applicable law (e.g. tax or accounting obligations).

Section 09

Security

We take the security of your personal data seriously. We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures including:

  • Encryption of data in transit (TLS/HTTPS)
  • Encryption of data at rest in Firebase infrastructure
  • Access to personal data restricted to authorised personnel only
  • Regular review of our data handling practices

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. If you become aware of any security issue, please contact us immediately at support@friendlyalarm.app.

Section 10

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you via a notification in the app or by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. The updated policy will always be available at this URL.

Continued use of the app after the effective date of a revised policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
